The 3 main categories of natural stones

How are natural stones made?
I believe this is a very important question to answer in order to understand better and be able to appreciate natural stones.
Natural stones are formed through millions of years, under certain circumstances like heat (in combination with slow or quick cooling), pressure, chemical processes or accumulation of sediments. These formulations happen mostly below earth’s surface.
There are three main categories of rocks based on how they were formed
• Metamorphic rocks have been modified by heat, pressure, and chemical processes.
• Sedimentary rocks are formed by the accumulation of sediments.
• Igneous rocks are formed from the solidification of molten rock material.
Below you can find some of the most well known rocks of each of the three categories along with some specific examples.
Metamorphic: Marble, Slate, Quarzite
